About Jojo Fisher
Jojo Fisher is a Nashville-born saxophonist, flutist, clarinetist, arranger, and educator whose versatility and creativity make him an in-demand musician across styles and settings. Rooted in the city’s vibrant musical culture, Jojo brings a fresh voice shaped by the improvisational fire of jazz, the groove of funk, and the soul of R&B.
A proud product of Nashville’s public school system, Jojo first picked up the saxophone at age ten. By his senior year, he had earned the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award and a place in MTSBOA’s Gold Band, setting the stage for a career dedicated to music. The first in his family to pursue music professionally, Jojo drew inspiration from greats like Sonny Stitt, Joshua Redman, and Grover Washington Jr., while refining his craft under the guidance of mentors Dr. Jeffrey Kirk and Dr. Alex Graham at Belmont University.
Now in his senior year at Belmont, Jojo has performed with the university’s premier ensembles, including Jazz Small Group 1, PHNX, and the Wind Ensemble on clarinet. He was featured in the 2024 production of Christmas at Belmont with Jazz Band 1, Voxology, and Company — a nationally broadcast performance available on Amazon Prime Video. His skills as a woodwind doubler have also led him to musical theater productions such as The Little Mermaid and Swing, while his adaptability keeps him active in wedding bands like Universal Crush and Emerald Empire Band, regular gigs with local artists, recording sessions, and a new jazz group called The Velvet Hour.
Looking ahead, Jojo plans to expand his career beyond sideman work by leading his own ensemble while establishing a strong and lasting presence in Nashville’s music scene. In the next three to five years, his goal is to balance collaborative projects with his own original voice as a bandleader, sharing music that both honors the jazz tradition and pushes it into new spaces.
